Monday, September 3rd – 34th Annual Franklin Classic – Historic Downtown Franklin
The Franklin Classic benefiting Mercy is one of the oldest and most popular races and community events in Middle Tennessee. Last year the event attracted more than 3,100 participants and an additional 6,000+ on-lookers.
The Franklin Classic is our largest fund-raising effort. With an annual budget of nearly $2.5 million and our development department needing to raise approximately 50% of that, we’re hoping sponsorships along with registrations will raise $150,000. We can’t do this without our supporters in the community!
Thank you participants, sponsors, and volunteers from 2011 Franklin Classic for making the 33rd annual Franklin Classic a huge success! Despite the weather we had a wonderful turnout!!

General Event Information:
The Franklin Classic is one of the oldest and most popular races and community events in Middle Tennessee. Last year the event attracted more than 3,000 participants and another 3,000-5,000 on-lookers. Even if you don’t run or walk, come down to the square and take part in the celebration including a FREE KidZone, celebrity appearances, and live music.
Proceeds from the Franklin Classic support Mercy Children’s Clinic and is our largest fundraising effort. With an annual budget of nearly $3 million, 50% of which is raised through sponsors and donations, we’re hoping to raise $150,000 through this year’s event.
We are proud to offer certified 5K and 10K courses. ChampionChip Timing is provided by the Nashville Striders. The course maps are below.

Entertainment:
FREE KIDZONE
Come out with the family and enjoy the free Kidzone. We’ll have inflatables, an obstacle course, facepainting, lots of games, popcorn, snow cones and the always popular ‘Touch a Truck’ Firetruck. All Kidzone activities start at 8:00 AM in the square.
Live Music By Scat Springs
Nationally recognized, multi-talented singer songwriter and recording artist Scat Springs has been a sought after vocalist since arriving in Music City. Together with his band, he specializes in Motown, soul, R&B, and funk. He has recorded with well known artists, participated in national ad campaigns, performed for corporate sponsors and been involved in several feature film projects.
Important Reminders:
- 10K race is reserved for runners and joggers.
- 5K race is for both runners and walkers.
- Baby joggers are allowed on the 5K and 10K runs, but will start at the end to avoid congestion.
- We are unable to allow pets on the running courses.
- The event will occur rain or shine. This is a charitable event and no refunds will be given if the race is postponed, modified or cancelled due to severe weather conditions.
